Look for our awesome staff around the store – they can answer any of your questions about the store, Karma membership and our products, including their personal favourite items!
Talia McGuire, General Manager: email@example.com
An Ottawa native with a degree in anthropology from Carleton University and keen interest in organic farming, Talia spent most of 2009 interning at the New Farm, a vegetable-and-livestock farm in Creemore, Ontario. After that tremendous learning experience, she started working at Karma, where she was already a member (since 2007). Although her original academic pursuits were in cultural anthropology with a focus in ethnomusicology, her deep interest and passion for farming, food and sustainable living, are what attracted her to Karma. Talia’s favourite thing about Karma is its strong vibrant community and how all members participate toward achieving the same goal: co-operatively operating a successful food store.

Kirsten Heyerdahl, Member Records Secretary: firstname.lastname@example.org
Kirsten’s food ethics have evolved over the years, but she has always been a lover of food and is consistently the one hanging around the food table at a party. Born and raised in Toronto, Kirsten left the city to attend the University of Guelph, obtaining a degree in Criminal Justice and Public Policy and a minor in French. She moved to France for a year and when she came back she began shopping at Karma and working in the legal field. A few years later she decided it was time to travel again so she journeyed with her partner to Japan where they worked on several farms through the WWOOF program and later taught English to finance their extended stay. They returned to Canada in 2008 and in the next year-and-a-half got married, bought a house, and had a baby. That baby is now in school and the second child is no longer a baby either. Kirsten is stay-at-home mom and loves cruising around with the kids in her Babboe cargo bike.
