After a successful and busy summer, it’s time to get back to work! Summer is our slowest time at the store but I’m happy to report that sales were up this summer over last.🎉 We’re welcoming more new folks to our wonderful store and are continuing to lead the way in terms of our package-free offerings, which, by the way, we hope to expand even more in the coming months! Stay tuned.
You may have noticed the construction happening in the members’ room and that our toilet has been out of order. We appreciate your patience as we work on the issues with our pipes, which have proven to be more complicated than we first thought. We are working hard though at getting our store back to normal as soon as possible. I apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused. We will keep you posted with updates.
It’s that time of year again! Time for our Annual General Meeting! AGMs are where we assess the health of our organization, where we discuss the successes and struggles of the previous year, as well as connect with members of our community. It is also when we appoint new directors to our Board of Directors. This past year, the board has been very stretched for capacity as director numbers were low. It is very hard to move the Co-op forward when there are so few people at the helm.
If you are dedicated to Karma and want to contribute your energies in a meaningful way, I encourage you to join our Board of Directors. The Board meets once a month and carries out the crucial behind the scenes work that keeps our Co-op going. They work closely with me, the General Manager, and various committees. Though we welcome all skill sets, in particular we are looking for members with legal, HR, building/construction, financial and marketing experience to join the team and make Karma the best food co-op it can be.
