Dear Karma Members,
And just like that, it’s summer! Personally, I love the heat, and the local veggies and fruit are loving it too! The strawberries, green onions, lettuce, and garlic scapes are in and we’re waiting on more new arrivals every day. We also have some great specials to kick of the beginning of summer, perfect for those camping excursions or picnics in the park.
It’s time to challenge yourself! Get ready for Plastic Free July! Karma makes plastic and waste reduction easy with our expansive bulk selection and because we accept (and encourage!) you to BYOC (Bring Your Own Container)! We also have the tools you need to get you started on your plastic free journey. From reusable straws to wooden dish scrubbers to cloth bowl covers, we’ve got you covered. Be sure to tag Karma and @PlasticFreeJuly in any posts you make about your journey. We always love to see what members are doing to reduce plastic and waste in their lives.
I’m pleased to announce members can now place special orders online! That’s right! Place your orders through the form on our site. Big thank you to Neal Joyes for making that happen!
In staffing news, I’m happy to welcome Emma Heath to the Karma team! Emma has been coming to the co-op since she was a wee one and she’s excited to now be part of the Karma team. Welcome Emma!
I’m also very excited that Karma is hosting Jon Steinman, author of Grocery Story: The Promise of Food Co-ops in the Age of Grocery Giants, on his book tour. Join us on July 4th from 6 to 8 pm for a talk from Jon about his new book and why food co-ops are so important today. It’s sure to be an informative and social evening! I hope to see many of you there.
